The first major social dinner for the Trump White House Social Calendar took place last Sunday with the Annual Governor’s Ball. This black-tie bipartisan affair takes place every year on the last Sunday of February in conjunction with the National Governor’s Association meeting. The ball marked the first formal gathering that First Lady Melania Trump and her new Chief of Staff Lindsay Reynolds, Social Secretary Anna Cristina Niceta Lloyd and Senior Advisor Stephanie Winston Wolkoff oversaw at the White House. “I am proud to invite all the governors to the White House for this important annual event. Tonight, we come together as one nation, leaving political labels and partisan interests behind,” said Mrs. Trump.
According to the White House the evening’s theme was “Spring’s Renewal,” drawing upon nature for inspiration. “The White House has come to life, gleaming with a dazzling, sensorial experience of eternal spring,” Mrs. Trump added. “The scents of jasmine and roses fill the air as we give thanks for this great nation and the glory of renewal.”
In the presence of 46 Governors and their spouses, the tables in the State Dining Room were adorned with white candles and white and green floral centerpieces. President Trump began his remarks by first complimenting his wife “for having done a really beautiful job”. Later, the President offered a toast and invited Virgina Governor Terry McCaullife to the Gold Eagle lectern to offer remarks. Guests were treated to a performance by The United States Army Chorus.
